What decides whether Beacons is worth paying for.
The free plan is genuinely the best free plan in the category
Start with what Beacons gets right, because it is a lot. For $0 you get a link in bio, a media kit that refreshes its numbers daily, a store that sells unlimited digital products, affiliate links, 50 email sends a month and keyword-triggered Instagram DMs. Linktree Free holds links. Stan has no free plan at all. If you are testing whether anyone will buy from you, Beacons Free lets you find out without paying anything except the 9% fee on what sells, and that is the right trade for a creator with no sales yet.
Beacons prices a fee on commission openly, and on only one kind
Every other review of Beacons, and most of our own writing about this category until now, repeats a rule that is almost right: a link page cannot take a cut of affiliate commission, because the merchant pays you directly. That is true for programs you join yourself. It is not true for Beacons' own brand marketplace, and Beacons is unusually open about it. (Linktree works the same way with its affiliate shop, which it gates to Premium, but it does not print the split.) Beacons runs a catalog of what it describes as 12,000 brand partners, and when you earn through those links Beacons is the network in the middle of the payment. The plan page prices it openly: 9% on Free and Creator, 0% from Creator Plus. So the question for a Beacons user is not whether there is a fee on commission. It is where your affiliate links come from.
When Creator Plus pays for itself on commission
Take a creator on the free plan earning $400 a month through the Beacons marketplace. The 9% costs $36 a month, $432 a year. Creator Plus costs $300 a year, so the upgrade saves $132 net. At $200 a month of marketplace commission the fee is $216 a year and the upgrade loses $84. The crossover from Free is $3,333 a year of marketplace commission, about $278 a month. From Creator, where you already pay $100, the extra $200 breaks even at about $185 a month. If your commission comes from Amazon or a software program you joined directly, the answer is simpler: the upgrade saves nothing on it at any volume.
The same arithmetic on products you sell yourself
For digital products the break even is identical, because the fee is the same 9%. Sell $1,000 a month of presets or templates and the free plan costs you $90 a month in fees against $25 for Creator Plus. That is a clear win for upgrading and nothing here argues otherwise. The upgrade also brings unlimited courses with video hosting, memberships and unlimited email sends, so a creator building a real product business outgrows the lower tiers for reasons beyond the fee.
The Creator Max card does not add up, so check it at checkout
On 22 September 2026 the Creator Max card showed three figures that cannot all be true: $900 billed annually, $83.3 a month, and $100 billed monthly. Twelve months at $83.3 is $1,000. Ten months at $100, which is how Beacons' "two months free" works on every other tier, is also $1,000. So either the annual figure or the monthly equivalent is stale. For almost everybody reading this it does not matter, because Creator Max sells Google Workspace, onboarding, faster support and an NFC card rather than anything that changes revenue. If you do want it, read the total on the checkout screen before you confirm.
What the 2.0 Trustpilot score actually contains
Beacons scores 2.0 on Trustpilot from 42 reviews, and 76% of them are one star. The complaints cluster around support that does not answer, payouts that arrive late or not at all, and features that changed after an upgrade. Two caveats keep this in proportion. Beacons has not invited reviews, so the sample is people who went looking for somewhere to complain, and 42 reviews is small for a product this widely used. Stan scores 4.7 from about 2,000 reviews and Linktree 4.0 from about 7,000 on the same site. The fair reading is not that Beacons is unsafe. It is that support is the weak point, and the plan page confirms it by selling response time by tier, from 48 hours on Free down to 6 on Max.

How to price Beacons against your own numbers in four steps.
Split your commission by where the link came from
Open your Beacons earnings and list commission that came through the Beacons brand marketplace separately from commission paid to you by Amazon, Impact, Awin or a software program you joined yourself. Only the first pile is exposed to the 9%. Most creators have never separated them, and the split decides the whole question.
Add your own product sales to the marketplace pile
Digital products, courses and memberships sold through your Beacons store carry the same 9% below Creator Plus. Add that figure to the marketplace commission from step one. The total is the only number any Beacons plan can change.
Compare the total with $278 or $185 a month
If you are on Free and the total clears about $278 a month, Creator Plus is cheaper than the fee. If you already pay for Creator, the line is about $185 a month. Below the line, stay where you are. The commission you earn from programs you joined directly does not belong in this sum at any point.
Decide what the income you cannot see is worth
A link page reports clicks. Your commission sits in a dozen merchant dashboards with different rates, return windows and payout dates, and no Beacons tier joins them up. If most of your money is commission from programs you joined yourself, the useful spend is on seeing which recommendation earned, not on a fee change that cannot reach it.
