Linkpop alternative for creators, with Linkpop vs Linktree compared and a link page that shows which affiliate link earned
Linkpop was Shopify's free link in bio page, launched in March 2022, with one trick nobody else had: products from a Shopify store could be bought through Shopify checkout without leaving the page. Shopify stopped new signups in June 2025 and retired the product on July 7, 2025. Most pages now ranking for a replacement are written by one of the replacements. This one is too, so here is what we did differently. We checked linkpop.com on the day this was written, requested old creator pages to see what a follower lands on today, and split the answer by the one question that decides it: were you selling your own Shopify products, or recommending other people's?
The short answer
Shopify retired Linkpop on July 7, 2025. Since then nobody can log in, edit a page or create a new one, and the root linkpop.com now redirects to shopify.com. For a creator, the closest replacement is a link page that takes any affiliate link, lives on an address you control and reports what each link earned. Favly Pro does that for $180 a year, with a custom domain and commission reports matched to each link.
Linkpop status checked on 29 September 2026. linkpop.com now redirects to shopify.com and pages can no longer be edited · No commission fee

At a glance
Linkpop, the shutdown and your options, in one table.
Rows marked OFFICIAL quote Shopify or the vendor page named in the row. REPORTED rows come from contemporary coverage of the shutdown. TESTED rows are requests we made ourselves on 29 September 2026. STRUCTURAL rows are reasoning that follows from those facts. Prices are in USD.
| What you want to know | The answer | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Is Linkpop still running | No. Retired July 7, 2025 | OFFICIAL. Shopify's notice read: "Linkpop is retiring July 7, 2025. After this date, you won't be able to make changes to your current Linkpop pages or create new ones." |
| When signups stopped | June 11, 2025 | REPORTED. Shopify closed new registrations about four weeks before the retirement date. |
| What linkpop.com shows now | A redirect to shopify.com | TESTED. The root domain returned HTTP 301 to www.shopify.com on 29 September 2026. |
| What an old creator page shows | Mostly 404, some frozen copies | TESTED. Of six handles we requested, five returned 404 and one served a static copy of the old page. Neither kind can be edited. |
| Can I still log in | No | REPORTED. Coverage of the retirement states that login, editing and the Linkpop app all ended on July 7, 2025. |
| Selling Shopify products from the page | Ended with the product | REPORTED. The in-page Shopify checkout was Linkpop's main feature and stopped with the retirement. |
| Why Shopify closed it | Not stated | OFFICIAL, by absence. Shopify gave no reason and pointed users to link in bio apps in its App Store. |
| Does an affiliate link on a dead page earn | No | STRUCTURAL. If the page 404s, the follower never reaches the merchant, so nothing is tracked or paid. A frozen copy may still pass clicks, but only to the links it held in 2025. |
| Linktree price | Free, Starter $72, Pro $144, Premium $360 a year | OFFICIAL, Linktree pricing page, annual billing, re-read September 2026. Free includes unlimited basic links. |
| Selling your own Shopify products | Use your Shopify store | STRUCTURAL. If you are the merchant, your own store or a Shopify App Store link page app is the natural fit. Favly is not a checkout. |
| Custom domain for your link page | Favly Pro | OFFICIAL, favly.com/pricing. Put your own address in your bio, so the next closure means one DNS change instead of editing every profile. |
| Earnings per link | Favly Pro, from your reports | OFFICIAL, favly.com/pricing. Revenue attribution imports each program's commission report and matches rows to the link that earned them. |
| Favly Pro price | $180 a year ($15 a month billed yearly) | OFFICIAL, favly.com/pricing. No fee on your affiliate commissions. One free demo storefront to try it before you pay. |
| Link checking | Not a Favly feature | Honest limit. Favly does not crawl your links for dead products. Dedicated link monitors do. |
the frozen page problem
A frozen link page still gets tapped. It just cannot change.
Linkpop pages did not all vanish on July 7. Some old handles now return a 404, some still serve a frozen copy of the page, and nobody can log in to change either. That is worse than it sounds. A frozen page keeps sending followers to last year's picks, sold out products and expired codes, and you cannot add this month's recommendations or fix a broken link. Every day the old address sits in a bio or a pinned post, it quietly spends clicks you could be earning from.
What the shutdown teaches
What to demand from a Linkpop alternative after watching Linkpop freeze.
Decide first whether you are the merchant or the recommender
Linkpop served two very different people. A store owner used it to sell their own products through Shopify checkout. A creator used it to list products from brands, Amazon and software companies with an affiliate link on each. Those jobs need different tools. The first wants a checkout. The second wants a page that holds any link and tells you which one paid. Most roundups mix the two, which is why their advice feels vague.
The address in your bio should belong to you
Linkpop was free and backed by one of the largest commerce companies on the internet, and it still closed. The lesson is not that big vendors are unsafe. It is that the URL printed in your bio, your pinned posts and your old captions should be one you own. Put your own domain in front of the page, so switching tools later means changing one DNS record instead of hunting down every place the old link was posted.
Any merchant, not one platform's catalog
Linkpop was strongest for Shopify products, because that was the point of it. A recommender's picks rarely sit in one place. A skincare creator links Amazon, Sephora's program, a few indie brands running Shopify Collabs and a booking tool. A replacement tied to one store or one retailer quietly drops the rest of that income.
Proof of which link earned
The easy move after a shutdown is to rebuild on the first free page you find and, a month later, still not know which of your 25 links paid for anything. Taps are not money. The number worth having is commission per link, which needs each program's report matched back to the link. That tells you what to pin at the top and what to cut.
A page you can update in a minute
Part of what made Linkpop useful was how fast it was to add a product. Whatever replaces it has to be just as quick, because a recommendation page that is a week behind your content loses the follower who came from today's post. Look for collections you can add to from your phone and reorder without rebuilding the page.
Price it against what your links earn
Favly Pro is $180 a year. At a 4% Amazon rate that is roughly $4,500 of products sold in a year, or two or three software referrals on a recurring program. If your links earn less than that, a free Linktree page is the honest answer, and this page says so below.
Rebuild without losing more clicks
How to replace Linkpop in four steps and stop the clicks you are losing.
Rebuild the list from what actually earned
Open your Amazon Associates, Shopify Collabs and brand program reports for the last 12 months and list every product that earned. Add the picks you still recommend that never sold. If an old Linkpop page still shows a frozen copy, use it as a checklist. That list is your new page, ordered by money rather than memory.
Build the storefront and tag every link
Create your storefront at favly.com/@you and group products into collections such as skincare, desk setup or software. Put the Favly tag in each program's sub ID or tracking ID field, so each commission row can be matched to the link that earned it.
Put your own domain in front of it
On Pro, point a domain or subdomain you own, such as shop.yourname.com, at the storefront. This is the step that makes the next closure harmless: the link in your bio stays the same whatever tool sits behind it.
Replace the old link everywhere, busiest profiles first
Swap the Linkpop address in your Instagram and TikTok bios first, then pinned posts, YouTube channel links and email signatures. Search your old captions for linkpop.com and fix the ones that still get views. Then import commission reports each month and move the earners to the top.
If it is not a fit
If you sell only your own Shopify products, stay inside Shopify.
This page is not going to sell you a subscription you do not need. If Linkpop was the front door to your own Shopify store, your store is the real replacement: link your bio to a collection page, or use one of the link page apps Shopify lists in its App Store, and keep checkout, inventory and customer data where they already live. Favly is not a checkout and does not sell your stock. And if you only need a handful of links with no affiliate income to track, Linktree Free costs nothing and does the job. Favly earns its $180 a year when your page is full of other people's products, spread across several programs, and you want to know which link paid.

Side by side
Where Linkpop creators land, honestly compared.
Most Linkpop creators moved to Linktree, because it is the default and the free plan is generous. This table sets Linktree against Favly Pro, because that is the real decision for a creator who recommends products. Linktree figures come from its pricing page, read in September 2026.

| Products grouped into shoppable collections | Partly | Linktree is built around a column of buttons, with shop features on higher tiers | |
| Your own domain in your bio | × | The page lives at linktr.ee/yourname | |
| Selling your own products at checkout | × | A genuine Linktree strength, with a seller fee on lower tiers | |
| Commission reports matched to each link | × | Linktree reports taps, not the commission each link earned | |

FAQ
Questions creators ask about Linkpop and what to use instead.
What happened to Linkpop?
Shopify retired Linkpop on July 7, 2025, after closing new signups in June. Its notice said users could no longer change existing pages or create new ones. Shopify gave no reason. Today linkpop.com redirects to shopify.com, and old creator pages either return a 404 or show a frozen copy.
Is Linkpop shutting down?
It already has. Linkpop was retired on July 7, 2025. Any linkpop.com address in a bio, pinned post or caption now leads to a page you cannot edit, or to nothing, so it cannot carry new recommendations and may earn nothing at all. Those links need replacing.
What is the best alternative to Linkpop?
It depends on what you used it for. Store owners selling their own Shopify products should link to their store or use a Shopify App Store link page app. Creators recommending other brands' products need a page that takes any affiliate link and shows which one earned. Favly Pro does that for $180 a year.
Linkpop vs Linktree, which is better now?
Linktree, by default, because Linkpop no longer works. Linkpop only ever beat Linktree at in-page Shopify checkout. For a creator whose income is affiliate commission, Linktree Free handles a short list well, and a storefront such as Favly becomes the better buy once you need earnings per link.
Can I still log in to Linkpop?
No. Login, page editing and the Linkpop app ended on July 7, 2025, according to coverage of the retirement. There is no export tool. Rebuild your page from your affiliate reports and, if your old page still shows a frozen copy, use that as a checklist.
Do my old Linkpop links still work?
Some do, partly. When we requested six old handles on 29 September 2026, five returned 404 and one showed a static copy of the old page. A frozen copy can still pass clicks, but only to the products it held in 2025, and you cannot update or fix it.
What is the best Linkpop Shopify alternative for selling my own products?
Your own Shopify store. Link your bio to a collection or landing page in the store, or install one of the link in bio apps Shopify lists in its App Store. That keeps checkout, inventory and customer data in Shopify, which is what Linkpop was really doing for you.
Does a Linkpop alternative take a cut of affiliate commission?
Not for links to other merchants. Amazon, brands and software programs pay affiliate commission straight to you, so neither Linktree nor Favly touches it. Seller fees on link pages apply to products sold through the page's own checkout, which is a different thing.
How do I replace Linkpop links in my bio and old posts?
Update your Instagram and TikTok bios first, then pinned posts, YouTube channel links and email signatures. Search old captions for linkpop.com and fix the ones still getting views. Use an address on your own domain this time, so a future tool change never breaks them again.
Is there a free Linkpop alternative?
Linktree Free is the obvious one and suits a short list of links. Favly offers one free demo storefront so you can build a page and see it live before paying. Keeping it running, with a custom domain and earnings per link, is Favly Pro at $180 a year.
Go deeper
If you are choosing a new link page, Linktree alternatives compares the main options on what they cost from each vendor's own pricing page, the best link in bio platforms sets them side by side on fees, and Linktree pricing shows which tier is worth paying for.
If most of your picks are Instagram or TikTok products, affiliate marketing on Instagram covers the native affiliate tools and where an outside link still wins, and the TikTok Shop affiliate program covers what TikTok requires before you can tag products in your videos.
Linkpop is not the only creator tool to close. The kit.co alternative page covers the gear list site that shut in May 2026, and a custom domain link in bio explains how to put your own address in front of your storefront so the next closure never touches your bio.
