Hawaiian Hula Movement workshop is coming!!!! 🌺 This is a 3 week Intro-basic Hula movement for Adults workshop that will focus on Auana (modern) hula, with it's graceful hand gestures and soft swaying hips. For ages 35-85, so we are focusing on women who want to age gracefully and dancing the hula is a great way to do that! It helps to combat arthritis and stiff joints, flexibility and can also help prevent dementia by learning choreography. The choreography will be simple and beautiful, graceful and you will fall in love with hula! Rika, a Polynesian dancer of 30 years will be teaching the class. She has studied hula under many teachers including Casey Kamao Kono from Maui, Kumu Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, Aunty Kilisitina Vainuku and Paki Allen. Rika has been dancing hula all over the world, including on Celebrity Cruises and Carnival cruise lines as a Polynesian ambassador, teacher and dance performer with Henry and Paki Allen. Rika is very excited to share some hula movements in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! Mondays starting November 5-November 19 from 6:45-7:45pm. If interested, call or text Rika at 310-598-0779 or email purotumoorea@gmail.com to sign up. Fee is $45 for the 3 week workshop.

Flashback to dancing with Tevaka at D23 for the Moana movie! I made the costumes as well. Tevaka is the group who did the music for Moana. I was a cultural consultant, choreographer and costume designer for the film. Was a great experience!
